In the Upright position, the Hung Man (can pick his nose without taking his hands out of his pockets) represents the confidence that comes from not taking yourself too seriously. Simply put, it's hard to bother someone who doesn't give a flying hippo's dingus about what you have to say.

Reversed, it is representative of the overbearing arrogance that can result from attempting to give Absolute Truth status to your opinions.
